As a charity, we operate from the generous donations from our community to support our work and our partnerships that bring in donations to Algoma from across the Province and the Country. We use these donations to support local non-profits, charities, and special projects.

FIELD OF INTEREST FUNDS

A field of interest fund at a community foundation is designated to support a specific cause, over time; it allows individuals, families, businesses, or organizations to concentrate philanthropic resources on the issues they care about while leveraging the foundation’s expertise in stewardship, grant-making, and administration. These funds can be endowed to provide long-term, sustainable support or expendable for immediate impact. By pooling administrative functions, these funds enable consistent, strategic community impact aligned with the donor’s intent.

Youth Algoma

We believe that a robust support system for local youth is how we make Algoma stronger! This fund provides a flexible, enduring way to address changing needs across education, recreation, mentorship, mental health, and workforce readiness by allowing the community foundation to direct projects and grant making to the most impactful programs within that focus area; endowed or expendable, the fund can support scholarships, after-school initiatives, leadership development, and crisis intervention while leveraging partnerships with schools, non-profits, and businesses to maximize reach and measure outcomes, ensuring that resources adapt over time to emerging challenges and opportunities for our Algoma youth.
